Going Deeper with Reading Like a Historian: Local History, OUTs, & Discussion

During this interactive institute, participants will learn about the Stanford History Education Group’s Reading Like a Historian lessons.

This three-session institute will address the following topics:

• Adapting historical documents
• Teaching local history with document-based lessons
• Opening Up the Textbook (OUTs) lesson plans
• Supporting students’ historical discussion

Each session will include opportunities to engage with Stanford History Education Group materials as part of a large group and in small breakout groups. Participants will learn strategies for implementing these resources in their classrooms.
